EMPOWERING URBAN COMMUNITIES TO IMPROVE HEALTH OUTCOMES AND PROMOTE WELLNESS
The Coalition of Urban Resource Experts (CURE) was established in 2005, it is a grassroots organization of African-American mental health professionals, forming in the immediate aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. CURE seeks to meet the physical, psychological, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of urban people with a focus particularly on people of African ancestry.
The Association of Black Social Workers (Texas) and Black Psychologists.
CURE members are trained in Cultural Competency and through our collaborative work understand and respond effectively to the bio-psychosocial impact of Mass-Disaster.
We are committed to the concepts of resiliency, the strengths perspective and a deep appreciation for diversity. CURE was created to address, attend to, and identify the clinical, therapeutic, and distressed needs of the community, seeking to support and provide for their mental wellness and social services needs.
