The Coalition of Urban Resource Experts (CURE) was established in 2005, it is a grassroots organization of African-American mental health professionals, forming in the immediate aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. CURE seeks to meet the physical, psychological, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of urban people with a focus particularly on people of African ancestry.
Trainings
CURE Trainings offer groups skills, tools, and techniques that lead to better cohesion among the group.
CURE has hosted trainings on trust building, on coping with racialized trauma, and on utilizing power in healthy and effective ways.
CURE trainings typically last for 2hrs. but can be reduced or extended to meet the needs of the client.
Healing Circles
CURE will gather with 2 or more of its members in a community setting and offer a space for mind – body healing.
We typically convene under a chosen topic selected by the group or person who has invited us to host the circle. In the past, we have facilitated healing circles around trauma, resilience, assumed guilt, and post traumatic stress.
We follow the model of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, and our facilitators are trained in this style of care. Our sessions typically last for 2hrs.and involve both experiential and educational activities.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
